4 Ways To Stop Dry Winter Skin Now!

I’m just returning from an extended visit to Florida, so it’s a bit difficult to think about starting a winter skin care routine. However, with highs predicted in the low 50’s by Friday, it’s time to get serious or risk having dry winter skin by Thanksgiving!

But before you panic, starting a new routine doesn’t have to be difficult. Here are four easy ways to keep nasty alligator skin away this winter!

Clean skin is good. Squeaky clean skin is not.

Adding an oil or micellar water cleanser is a great way to remove makeup at the end of the day and not be left with tight, pulled skin. (let’s leave that to the surgeons, ok?) Two of my favorites are DHC Deep Cleansing Oil and Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleanser. They’re both easy to use and leave your skin clean and soft!

Moisturize and protect!

Remember that study about how the skin will heal itself from photo damage if you would just wear SPF 30 (or higher) every single day? Well, there’s no time like the present to get started. Try La Roche-Posay’s Toleraine Double Repair Face Moisturizer with SPF 30. It’s oil-free, won’t clog your pores and is less than $20. The best part? It works!

Add something extra to your body lotion. Coconut, sweet almond or jojoba oil are just a few of the things you can add to whatever product you are already using. If you’re looking for something made specifically for dry, itchy skin (or are looking for a change) you can’t go wrong with Aveeno. Their line has everything from body yogurt to eczema relief. Whichever you choose, remember that the products will absorb more effectively if you exfoliate first.

Water – we cannot live without it. Here’s the Mayo Clinic’s take on how much we should consume a day. **Spoiler alert** Most of us don’t get enough.

Until next time….
