Hey, everyone gets a little body odor once in a while. But if you feel your underarms are smelling a bit funky more times than not, you might want to detox your underarms.
Detox for the pits isn’t a new thing. Once the word got out about how deodorant can be full of nasty ingredients like phthalates (endocrine disruptor), formaldehyde (carcinogen), parabens (hormone disruptor) and aluminum (the jury is still out on this one, but data doesn’t look good) a lot of people started looking for a more ‘natural’ way to keep odor at bay. Unfortunately, not all of them work as well as we would like. Detoxing your underarms helps natural deodorants be a bit more effective – which is a win-win for everyone!
You only need two ingredients to make your own detox treatment – apple cider vinegar and bentonite clay. Bentonite clay is composed of ash from volcanos and is used to help a variety of skin issues like dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis. Apple cider vinegar is used for a variety of ailments like muscle fatigue and acid reflux as well as for cooking.
To make the detox you simply mix 1/2 teaspoon each of apple cider vinegar and bentonite clay and stir it into a paste. Next, apply it to the underarms and leave on for 10-20 minutes. You then wash it off with water either in the shower or with a washcloth. Repeat the detox for a total of 3 days (more if needed) until the odor is gone.
And there you have it – no more funky pits! If only everything in life were this easy.
