Body fat can be covered with clothing, but a double chin? Not so much.
With most of us unwilling to have surgery or liposuction, the demand for more noninvasive solutions has been greater than ever. As of last week, there were only 2 FDA approved treatments for submental fat removal – Kybella (requires multiple treatments of deoxycholic acid injections) and CoolSculpting (a devices that freezes the fat).
Now there’s SculpSure, a diode laser already FDA approved for fat removal of the abdomen, love handles, back and thighs. And it gets better!
In the clinical trial, most patients gave SculpSure a 100-percent satisfaction rate with only two-25 minute treatments six weeks apart! This is great news for those of us who suffer with double chins!!
SculpSure can also treat patients with a body mass index of up to 43 while the competition is only cleared to treatment patients with a BMI of up to 30.
As far as cost goes, we’ll have to wait and see. A quick Google check for the cost of noninvasive submental fat removal treatments showed that Kybella was the most expensive with 3 treatments averaging $5,400. CoolSculpting (or the CoolMini) averaged $1000 with 1-2 treatments needed and SculpSure averaged $1458 per treatment of the body.
Either way, it’s always good to have a little competition!
Until next time….
