Which Vitamin C Serum Would You Buy?

I’ve never been crazy about vitamin C serums. They can take longer to work than other anti-aging products and are typically more expensive.

However, as my skin ages and becomes more sensitive, the thought of a C serum becomes more appealing.

So after some research, I discover that the most effective formulas contain vitamin C, E and a delivery vehicle – preferably ferulic acid.

Here are 5 that I am considering –

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Acid – probably the best known serum with great reviews. It has all the ingredients I am looking for, but unfortunately it costs $165 for 1 oz. Yikes!

DERMAdoctor Kakadu C 20% Vitamin C Srum with Ferulic Acid and Vitamin E – best known for their KP Cream, DERMAdoctor offers this serum with vitamin C derived from the Kakadu Plum which boasts more ‘C’ than Florida oranges. Well….I guess that’s good if you are eating it, but in this case I don’t feel it’s that big of a factor. One ounce is ~$95.

Timeless Skin Care 20% Vitamin C Plus E and Ferulic Acid Serum – I’ll get right to the point –  this vita C serum is $16 for 1 oz! Yeah!! Over 1360 Amazon purchasers have reviewed it with 59% giving the serum 5 stars. However, I wonder if this will be a case of  “you get what you pay for”?

TruSkin Naturals Vitamin C Serum with Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin E – checking Amazon further I find TruSkin’s C serum for a price I like – $19.99 for 1 oz! Not only is it affordable, but there are over 8700 reviews with 76% being 5 stars! Sadly, it doesn’t contain ferulic acid which is considered a crucial ingredient for an effective vitamin C serum.

Cellex-C High Potency Serum – as popular as SkinCeuticals and just as effective, Cellex-C has all the necessary ingredients to improve my skin. At $110 for 1 oz, it’s still more than I feel it should be.

So which serum did I purchase?

The Timeless Vitamin C Serum with HA and Vitamin E. With the ingredients being essentially the same as the more expensive ones, I’ll find out if using a vitamin C serum is for me without feeling guilty about the cost.

Stay tuned for the results!

Until next time….
